In 1969 George Balanchine founded the Ecole de Danse du Grand Théatre of Geneva and entrusted its management to Beatriz Consuelo and Alfonso Cata. The school became independent in 1975 and Beatriz Consuelo took on sole responsibility. Beatriz Consuelo gave the school an international reputation by training several generations of young dancers who went on to work in the best European companies.
Patrice Delay and Sean Wood have been running the school since 1999 with a teaching project allowing the students in professional training to be in direct contact with choreographers from various horizons. The Ecole de Danse de Genève is also open to children, teenagers and to amateur adults.
As professional dancers, Patrice Delay and Sean Wood worked with well-known choreographers all over the world.
They take great care in the quality of the teaching, in the spirit of what has made the Ecole de Danse de Genève a school of international reputation. By adding their own vision of teaching methods, they offer multi-field training which is adapted to the professional world’s evolution.
