Patrick DELCROIX

Patrick Delcroix was born in 1963 in Pau near the French Pyrenees. He trained at the Centre de Danse Internationale Rosella Hightower in Cannes and commenced his dance career with the Iwanson Dance Company in Mnchen. In 1985 he came to the Netherlands and joined the Scapino Ballet. When Jir Kylin made Piccolo Mondo for Scapino he noticed Delcroix. Consequently, Delcroix joined Nederlands Dans Theater in 1986 where he has danced more than thirtyfive choreographies until now.

In 1988 he created his first choreography for the Nederlands Dans Theater workshop, Travelling. Soon thereafter the dance company Djazzex invited him for whom he choreographed Un Sac de Neouds in 1990. In 1993 he choreographed his second choreography for Djazzex entitled Bidonville. In 1994, Delcroix created his first choreography for Nederlands Dans Theater II entitled Son Chemin. Sans Rponse, a short comical pas-de-deux between two men, originally premired during the NDT workshop in February 1995. It was so well received that NDT II decided to take it on their repertoire and premire it only months later during the Holland Dance Festival in October 1995. Next to Sans Rponse, Delcroix worldpremiered a new work entitled ' ? ', especially created for 8 dancers of NDT II.

In 1998 Delcroix created Beyond the Skin for a Sao Paulo dance group called Cisne-Negro. It premièred in the Joyce Theatre in New York City in October that year. Patrick also choreographed for the youth ensemble of the Dutch dance company Introdans, the IT Dansa in Barcelona. In 2003, he created a piece for the opera ballet of Vienna directed by Renato Zanella.
